The initial standard 800 pixel page:  (fixed display view 8.33 x 6.25 inches)

Many web masters still believe the safe option is to go with an 800 pixel web page width.  At a rough guess there might still be 10% of visitors to your website with ancient 800x600 width screens, but the numbers are falling every day.

By designing around an 800 pixel width web page you can make sure everybody will be able to view the site correctly. However, sometimes it is very limiting to only have an 800 pixel width (even more if you plan to use 3 columns); it means your content column is pretty small so you will need to edit your digital images down to 100 - 300 pixels (600 - 800 for Headers and Footers) depending on your templates ability to handle logos, multiple images and your Header text.
